Hello everyone..๐
A monday morning post this week to wish THE WALL..๐ฎ the real hero of Indian cricket..RAHUL DRAVID..
Rahul Dravid
A very very Happy Birthday..๐๐๐๐
( For my reader friends unaware of cricket..He is the superstar batsman of Indian cricket )
Fondly called as the
THE WALL!! Mr.Consistent!! Mr.Dependable..cause he was a true all rounder who could hook, pull, cut, sweep, flick, drive, keep wickets, captain and open the innings just for his team India..
A true Gentleman and a master Stroke player!
The man who never said never!
Hailing from my home town of Bangalore, Karanataka, India.
He started his career at Lordโs in 1996 sharing it with another legend Saurav Ganguly..
He went on to play and win many matches for India, making us Bangloreans proud..๐
India – Pakistan matches were and are still a rage in India and in the 90’s, it was a biguhh thing..
There were no Indian Premier League matches being played then , so we all used to look forward to the World cup, the Asia cup and the Tri series matches..
On one such occasion during a match between India and Pakistan, got me to notice the cutie pie man himself..(RD as I call him wheeee๐๐๐ )
It was on May 21st, 1997..( for those of you who follow cricket , it was the same match where Saeed Anwar made 194 runsย )
So as I was busy preparing for an entrance exam to join high school, I forgot studying and got hooked to the TV , watchingย RD play and my girly self developed a huge crush on him ( duh huh..I was only 12 years old so you can imagine..eyes rolling)
( Also, as I passed through school and college, I can recount numerous tales of the cold wars among the girls, who had the same liking for him.. It seemed like every other girl was his fan…ahhh let the war begin…๐ช๐ซ๐ฃwas the motto..)
Oh the craze lasted for a long long time..( I go crazy even now at the mention of his name but now it’s more controlled…๐๐๐ evil winksย again)
I came across this and every word is trueeee..๐
One of the greatest virtues that hardly any of us posses is taking a negative feedback sportingly.
That is exactly what distinguishes the goods from the greats.
Dravid is an example of this evolvingย and adapting with majesty even after he was droppedย before 1999 World Cup. He silenced everyone by being the highest run getter and is still in top 10 run getters in the history of the ODI format of the game.
Oh the stories are endless… So before I swoon..๐
Here’s wishing this great legend of the cricketing world a very very happy birthday..๐
May he have all the Happiness, Good Luck and Joy for many many years to come..
Pssst:
I was lucky enough to receive an autographed bat by the man himself..courtesy a friend..ooooo soo here it is..
Thanks Anish for this..It means a loooootttt too me.
Anyone wanting to share a similar experience, please do type away..๐
Have a great week ahead everyone..๐
Until next time, enjoy everything you do..๐ญ
