Hello everyone..🙋
✨Happy Diwali/Deepavali (the festival of Lights) ✨ to all my friends here..
A festive filled post.. 🌠
Not much of writing cause, I am trying to squeeze in posting this amidst getting things ready for the Puja.🎉🎊
So..the way Diwali is celebrated, differs in both North and South of India and the methods and the customs all vary.
Traditionally, it begins a week before with the sweets and savouries🍘🍙🍡🍪🍭 being prepared by the elders in advance and stored out of reach from us youngsters.
Matris (spicy crackers type) Murkkus..
The day begins with an oil bath in the morning, followed by a simple Puja. 🙏🏻
The elders give the youngsters clothes, jewels and sweets accompanying the blessings.💫
Clothes and sweetmeats are distributed as prasadam followed by a traditional breakfast
( some families observe fast the whole day)
An extensive vegetarian lunch follows.
The preparations for the Lakshmi puja ( the Goddess of wealth, the consort of Lord Vishnu ) inviting her home to bring prosperty and wealth is conducted.
Followed by seeking blessings from elders and exchanging the sweets and savouries with the neighbours.
The whole house is lit with lights and Diyas (small oil filled earthen lamps)
Then comes the favourite part.. Bursting crackers.. ( fireworks) 💥💥💥
Me and my elder brother used to divide crackers for all 3 days, all the harmless ones used to go to me and the biguhh atom bombs and rockets used to go to him.
Over the years we have stopped bursting crackers but we buy them and share it with the maids children.
This year was an exception so we partook in it and burst a few.
We had relatives and friends coming over, followed by an elaborate vegetarian dinner and so ended Diwali for us.💕💕💕
Its more of sharing and fun. 😍 Until next year, we await yet again eagerly for the festival of lights.🌟
Hope all my blogger friends too had a blast.💗
That’s us(Ruchi and Me) sharing some Murkkus virtually with you all…;)😛
Have a great weekend ahead.. :)💞💞💞
Psst: A note of thanks to Ruchi 😇( she is my sis in law.. Her first diwali with us.)she made few of the sweetmeats..😍
Two friends whose pics i flicked.. Ram😈 and Sushma😇..
And of course D and my bro for clicking our pics.. 😆;)

Neethu beautifully presented and the photos give a feel as if even am there celebrating. Beautiful celebration. As we all have been out of India for a long time the celebrations are varied depending on the rules around the world. But always there is a urge to get back sometime for the festivals to India. All the sweets and savoy ties look yumm. Thanks for sharing. Happy Diwali dear. Enjoyed it.
